<p>* Cut the salt – Too much sodium can raise blood pressure. <p>Eating certain foods can also increase inflammation that is already present in the body. Many foods these days are processed for longer shelf life. Added fats seem to make the food taste better even though it doesn’t make it better for you.</p>
<p>To combat inflammation, we take medications. The most popular drugs on the market to fight inflammation are NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). While they are helpful, if you are eating foods that increase inflammation, you are working against yourself.</p>
<p>Here is a brief list of foods that promote inflammation in the body:</p>
<p>* Trans fats<br />
* Saturated fats<br />
* Processed meats (luncheon meat, hot dogs, etc.)<br />
* Processed baked goods (cookies, cakes, donuts, etc.)<br />

<p>If you suffer from an inflammatory process in your body (such as arthritis), eating certain foods can possibly make your situation worse. You take NSAIDs more often to fight to the pain. Unfortunately, taking too many of these drugs can have side effects, including ulcers and an irritable bowel due to the level of pain relievers in your system.</p>
<p><strong>Foods that Help Stop Inflammation</strong></p>
<p>Before you reach for more pain relievers, consider other changes that you can make to help relieve inflammation. Examine your diet. Seek to include foods that will work to stop the inflammation process in your tissues and joints.</p>
<p>Here are a few categories of foods that will help your body:</p>
<p>* Omega 3 fatty acids – These are found in healthy oils and cold water fish. Try cooking with olive oil. It is a great source for fatty acids that not only help reduce inflammation but also improve cardiovascular health. Use it in salad dressings and also to cook meals. Salmon is a cold water fish that is full of fatty acids. Try eating fish at least twice a week. .</p>
<p>* Protein – Look for lean sources of protein such as chicken, turkey and pork. Even better still are non-animal sources of protein like nuts, which provide you with good fats, and legumes and beans, which provide high sources of protein without animal fats.</p>
<p>* Carbohydrates (including vegetables) – Try whole grain breads. If you are used to eating oatmeal, try other grains like quinoa, barley and bulgur. Vegetables also contain carbohydrates: broccoli, cauliflower and spinach. If there is any inflammation, avoid tomatoes, eggplant and potatoes. These are known to increase inflammation.</p>
<p>If you are suffering from inflammation, try changing what you eat as a way of reducing the pain that you feel.</p>

<p>It is believed that the avocado originated in Peru. This small dark green-skinned fruit resembles a large egg on the outside and has a creamy center that can be eaten alone or mixed to make dips, chopped to make salsa or chutney and cooked.</p>
<p>As much as the avocado is good to eat, it is also good for other purposes. The entire plant, including leaves, bark, seed, rind and fruit flesh is used to make different natural remedies. Some are still used today by people living in Peru and also Guatemala.</p>
<p><strong>The Bark</strong></p>
<p>This part of the avocado tree is used to prepare medicinal treatments. If you have a cough, it can be used to help stop it. Also, bark is used to alleviate many digestive ailments.</p>

<p>This is a type of homeopathy developed in the 1930s by Edward Bach, a homeopath and a physician. He used different flowers and herbs to affect healing in an individual. He believed that the essence of flowers could affect a person’s physical and spiritual well-being.</p>
<p>His technique was to use different flower materials (that he determined were most potent) and mix them with water and brandy. As is the nature of homeopathy, the mixture was continuously diluted until only the essence of the starting flower material was present. He believed that it was this essence that could heal a person.</p>
<p>The remedies can be used alone or in conjunction with others. Practitioners are trained to use and create his flower remedies. They can be used on children and pets as well.</p>
<p>Children are smaller versions of us and they can also benefit from homeopathic remedies. Because it is diluted, the same dose that is given to adults is also given to children. As there are no toxic substances used, side effects are rare.</p>
<p>Because Bach flower remedies are used mostly to affect emotional states in an individual, they are used for children with learning difficulties and other emotional issues. Depending on the child’s symptoms, a trained Bach flower homeopath can recommend one of his standard remedies or create one based on his recommendations for different plants.</p>

<p>What Is Homeopathy?</p>

With each dose, the body reacts less and less to the foreign substance until a severe reaction does not occur.</p>
<p>More and more people are looking to homeopathy as a companion to traditional medicinal therapy. Sometimes, using modern medicines to heal the body can lead to side effects that are just as devastating as the disease itself. Now, homeopathy doesn’t work for everything, but it does show promise for many conditions.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Your baby is crying as it is cutting its first teeth. Before you reach for over-the-counter medication, here are some options for natural pain relief.</p>
<p>The baby&#8217;s teeth are already there, just below the surface of the gums. When the time is right, they have to cut their way through the gums. The process of them erupting and breaking the tissue is painful.</p>
<p>The tender gums that your baby uses to nurse are now being assaulted by these teeth and the baby will cry and slobber; babies seem to produce more saliva when they are teething.</p>
<p>One thing that you will notice is that your baby may be feeding less because of the pain.  Relieving this pain can keep the baby from going hungry.</p>
<p>Keep an eye out for any changes in your baby. If the teeth have a problem erupting through the gums, it can lead to swollen gums and fever.</p>
<p>* Rub the gums – Sometimes simply rubbing the gums can bring relief when they are throbbing. It can also help your baby to sleep or to feed after a good gum massage.</p>
<p>* Apply cold – Cold numbs an area and stops the pain temporarily, maybe long enough for baby to feed or sleep. Use frozen waffles. They can gum them until they get soft. Frozen carrots work well, too. Don’t forget teething rings. Try to buy those that are made of thick durable plastic so baby won’t accidentally puncture it when it thaws out.</p>
<p>* Use a damp cloth – The baby can suck or bite on a cool rag. You can also use it to rub the gums, but do it lightly so you don’t cause abrasions.</p>
<p>* Give teething cookies – These are safe for baby to eat when they are soft and mushy. There are also teething ice pops to soothe the gum line.</p>
<p>* Use natural oils – An example is clove oil. Rubbing it on the gums can bring about a numbing effect for baby and alleviate pain. Vanilla extract can also help soothe the gums and calm baby’s disposition, as well as help cure stomach upset from crying and saliva.</p>
<p>* Chill bottle nipples – The baby will chew on the nipple when it drinks from its bottle. Chilling the nipple can soothe the gums as the baby feeds so that it can drink in comfort and get sufficient.</p>
<p>If your child is teething, it can be an uncomfortable time, so try to make it as pleasant as you possibly can with these natural methods.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>You may have heard of henna with regard to hair coloring or tattoos, but may not know that it has other uses.  The Indian practice of ayurveda has used it for centuries in medicinal preparations.</p>
<p>Ayurveda is the Indian practice of medicine much like the practice of massage in Oriental cultures. The word means the science or study of longevity as translated from Sanskrit. It is seen as a complementary and alternative medicine practice in the western hemisphere.</p>
<p>Ayurveda is based on five life elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether. The body is part of that combination of elements making up the total universe. The different practices are designed to bring the body into alignment with the universe and to promote long life.</p>
<p>Henna is a flowering shrub that is cultivated, most commonly in India. The flowers are pinkish and white. The entire shrub can be used for some medicinal purpose. It was discovered that crushing the bark left a pleasant odor behind. The name &#8220;henna&#8221; actually means &#8220;scent&#8221; in Arabic.</p>
<p>Ayurvedic practitioners use henna in powder, paste and liquid form. It can be used in cosmetic preparations and for medicine. Here are some examples.</p>
<p>* Hair dyes – Henna can be used to color white or graying hair. It is mixed with dye to restore color to hair. Used in shampoos, it is an effective conditioner. It has not been proven in clinical trials, but hair stylists that subscribe to ayurveda state that they have seen improvements in clients with alopecia and other hair conditions after using henna on them.</p>
<p>* Skin problems – Crushed leaves of the henna bush can be used to create a paste. This paste can help those who suffer from various skin conditions. Applying it for prickly heat is supposed to draw out the burning by releasing heat and providing relief. For insect bites, it can reduce inflammation that follows. After leprosy has been cleared up, henna can be used to restore smoothness to the skin.</p>
<p>* Gastrointestinal ailments – The seeds can be ground into a powder and used for internal ailments. For instance, it can be mixed with clarified butter and drunk for dysentery relief. Powdering the seeds or the bark can be used to help with liver issues such as cirrhosis or enlarged liver.</p>
<p>* Gynecological problems – Henna has been used in a preparation to relieve inflammation of the vagina, cervix and vaginal ulcers. It is important to use a proper decoction of henna for any ailments.</p>
<p>* Cosmetic – Henna has been found to help those with skin discolorations to restore the color to those spots. In cosmetic preparations it works as a concealer for an even skin tone.</p>
<p>Henna has so many more uses than were previously known. While henna tattoos are popular, you could be missing out on other effective formulations.</p>

<p>Maybe you have just started working out again or have started a new job that is very physical. You may go home with sore, aching muscles. Those muscle aches can also be a result of the effects of aging.</p>
<p>How to Stop Aching Muscles</p>
<p>Ever had a knotted muscle? It can be painful to deal with. Even stretching out that muscle is difficult to do. But, here are some ways to get relief fast:</p>
<p>* Cold compress – Applying cold to a muscle numbs and dulls the pain. Nerve endings can’t send messages to the brain. It is a little startling at first, but after about twenty minutes your muscle will calm down.</p>
<p>* Hot compress – Now that you have your pain under control, applying heat will unknot the muscle. You can use a heat patch or a hot water bottle, if you prefer. During this phase, give your muscle a little kneading. You can work the kink out of your muscle and increase elasticity in the muscle.</p>
